Alright, who’s ready to make some money?!?!

Welcome to another Game Changer blog, in which this time we will be covering our tournaments in-depth. Tournaments aren’t the only play-to-earn options we have on Game Changer, but they are the most varied. So, give your crypto wallets a good stretch so they’re ready to receive all of the coins coming their way, and let’s get started.

What Do I Need to Enter a Game Changer Tournament?

First, you’re going to need a Game Changer account. You should have one of those already, but just in case you don’t, here’s how to get set up with one.

To register, you’re going to want to click that “Log In” button on the top left corner of the main page. Then, click the “Register” tab in the separate window that opens. After you pick a username and a secure password, all you need to do is handle your email verification and you’re ready to get started!

The next thing you’ll need to get the most out of our tournaments is a suitable crypto wallet. If you don’t have one of those, you can reference our handy guide to the best crypto wallets right here. To give you a short version, you’re going to need either Coinbase Wallet or MetaMask to withdraw your winnings from Game Changer.

Playing - and more importantly, winning - Game Changer tournaments is no easy task. The members of the Game Changer community are fighters by nature, so every prize pot is a hard-earned reward rather than an easy payday.

You’ll need resolve, thick skin, and fighting spirit to take on other members of the community, but these things can be developed with time. We recommend taking the time to practice and sharpen your skills so you’re in tip-top shape when your preferred tournament rolls around.

Entry Fee

The final thing standing between you and Game Changer glory is the small entry fee we require for our tournaments. As you should know, we use USDC as our primary cryptocurrency - a stablecoin pegged to the US dollar. So, when you see “0.49 USDC” as the entry fee to a tournament, that’s exactly what you’ll need to part with. 49 cents. It’s a negligible amount given the size of the prize pools available, but the entry fee does scale with larger potential winnings. The largest USDC entry fee we have currently is only 0.99 USDC - under a dollar.

However, if you don’t happen to have any USDC in your crypto wallet, you can win some for free right here on Game Changer! We have many tournaments that take entry fees in GEMS, the coin we award for successful runs through the many free training modes we have for all of our games. You could try a bunch of different games for free, use those rewards to enter tournaments and climb your way up through the rankings that way. That’s the true meaning of play-to-earn.

How Do Game Changer Tournaments Work?

After you’ve selected your preferred game and paid the entry fee for an appropriate tournament, the fun really begins.

Depending on the game and the particular tournament at hand, there are a few different designations that describe how many players you will be competing against.

1v1

  • A classic head-to-head battle. If an opponent isn’t available at the time of entry, your match will play out and your score will be compared to the next entrant to determine a winner.

Slam

  • Three players compete for a shot at a bigger prize pool in GEM.

Looper

  • Four players compete for the top score, winnings are distributed, and then the tournament resets. All players are then able to re-enter and compete for a new top score with a wiped leaderboard. This is our most unique tournament style.

Smash

  • These are massive tournaments that support up to 20 players at a time. Scores are compared at the end of the active period, and the winner takes all.

Open

  • These tournaments have no limits on the number of players it can host while it’s active. Infinite players can compete and earn some coin. These tournaments tend to be the ones that only require GEM as an entry fee, so they’re more accessible.
